Clements Log Cabin

Clements Log Cabin
Originally uploaded by BluTat2
Turner Hunt Clements, an early settler, built this log cabin in the 1820's. It originally stood on Georgia Highway 20, northeast of McDonough, and is one of the oldest buildings in Henry County. The last to live in this cabin were George and Shirley Kelley. Although extremely small by today's housing standards, this cabin was typical of what most farm families lived in during the nineteenth century. Families with ten children cooked, ate and slept in the one downstairs room and loft. We have to bear in mind, though, that back then people lived and worked outdoors most of the time. They rested on the porch outside and the children played outside almost all of the time.

Photo taken in the McDonough, Georgia City Cemetery. I took advantage of the sun going down to capture some lens flare. The flare formed the nice red bell shape of light that is showing above. 3 bracket shots and processed as HDR.

This building served as McDonough Georgia's library from 1953 until the 1970's. George Alexander, President of Planter's Warehouse and Lumber Company, donated one of their storage buildings in order to get a city library started. It remained in use until a permanent building was specially constructed for a new city library in the early 1970's.

Creative Photography and Techniques

Well, its been a couple years now since my wife and I got hooked on the wonderful world of photography. Through studing, trial & error, upgrading equipment, learning from other professionals, and just creating photographs that we like, I hope improvements are shown here through the timeline of photos on this blog. Click on the months in right bar to view archived photos.
Bringing a different perspective and creativity of the world through photos is what we seek. It is a very fulfilling and satisfying way to express life's freedom.
Although still in the beginning stages of learning, future post from me will be about certain techniques that we go by when trying to capture a great image. Please feel free to comment and let me know what you think...... Thanks, Jack.
